Bogue Sound Elementary Advisory Council

 

What is the school advisory council?

The BSES Advisory Council is comprised of parent members, a community member, the principal. Minutes are kept and submitted by the Advisory Chair to the Superintendent’s office.

 

The Advisory Council serves our school in an advisory capacity and acts as a liaison between the Board of Education and the Parent Advisory Board.

 

The Council discusses and advises on such matters as human relations, school facilities, school activities, community/Board of Education relations, and/or other matters related to our school.

Who serves and for how long?

Advisory Council members must reside in the school attendance in which they serve. Members are appointed for one year terms, and can serve for a total of three consecutive years.

Parent Advisory Council Meeting Norms

● Adhere to established agenda.

● Items for discussion must be presented to the chair one week prior to the meeting and provided to the principal in order to be discussed at the meeting.

● Meetings will be conducted in a professional manner.

● Issues pertaining to students and teachers will be discussed in general terms without identifying individuals by name to be discussed

● Keep personal issues PRIVATE. Try to resolve issues by going to the teacher first.

● Remember to share positive comments as well as your concerns.

● Please strive to keep your comments focused and directed toward school improvement.
